Blog Numbers sharing post – Round TEN!
October has come and gone and now is the time to share with you some traffic numbers. I’ve now reduced the number of ads and affiliate links on the site. I think this makes for a cleaner presentation. I have updated the Resources Page which includes the affiliate resources as well as the non-affiliate resources now. Let me know what you think!
OKAY, SO HERE ARE THE GOOGLE ANALYTIC NUMBERS FOR October 2017.
Sessions : 503 | | This is an 87% increase from September | Increased ✔
Total number of Sessions within the date range. A session is the period time a user is actively engaged with your website, app, etc. All usage data (Screen Views, Events, Ecommerce, etc.) is associated with a session.
Users : 456 | | A 99% increase from September | Increased ✔
Users that have had at least one session within the selected date range. Includes both new and returning users.
Pageviews : 704 | | This is a 99% jump! | Increased ✔
Pageviews is the total number of pages viewed. Repeated views of a single page are counted.
Pages / Session : 1.40 | | 6% more | Increased ✔
Pages/Session (Average Page Depth) is the average number of pages viewed during a session. Repeated views of a single page are counted.
Bounce Rate : 84% | | 1% increase – this seems to remain about the same nowadays | Increased X
Bounce Rate is the percentage of single-page visits (i.e. visits in which the person left your site from the entrance page without interacting with the page).
% New Sessions: 89% | | 7% more | Increased ✔
An estimate of the percentage of first time visits.
There were two notable traffic spikes this month, due to renewed e-mail updates sent out to our mailer list (currently hundreds of subscribers and now slowly growing again!)
Top Social Referrer:
Twitter still takes the gold! However, our visits from Facebook are a close second while StumbleUpon remains a distant third.
Top Website Referrer:
Google Organic Search… our organic search traffic is still increasing.
October’s Top Four most Popular Pages with View Count:
Note: I am considering removing the Home Page numbers to make room for articles posted for that month.

I decided to continue sharing the Twitter activities because its just so exciting to share the results of one’s efforts! (Though, admittedly a little less exciting of late as the focus hasn’t been on Twitter as much due to “day job” time constraints)

What happened with our Twitter Followers this month:
I started to see a number of weird and odd tweets in my feed and realized that in my haste to simply gain “followers” on Twitter I had neglected to realize the impact on that feed’s quality. Instead of going through each and every account I decided to unfollow everyone and rebuild the list from there, this time only following accounts I feel provide good value so that I can retweet to my own followers.
PLEASE NOTE: If you happened to be an account I unfollowed and you feel you provide good value to readers on your Twitter account, please know that I haven’t been able to refollow every account I intend to just yet but am working on it!
- SNAP (Social Networks Auto Poster): This plugin has been very helpful for sending out new posts automatically to not only Twitter, but to other social media accounts as well. We configured the tweet to include a shortened URL from Rebrandly using the domain we purchased from GoDaddy and learned how to use UTM parameters to track website visits from these tweets. Very cool; if you haven’t done so I suggest you try it!
- Disclaimer* Lest you think the Twitter account is mainly automated, each morning and evening we are active on Twitter and have been able to connect with some wonderful people this way.
Plans moving forward:
- I’m still considering the creation of additional videos to help with engagement. Has anyone else tried this with any success?
- What makes a tweet worth retweeting?
Okay, so this is the final October 2017 Twitter Summary.
- We averaged just over 1.2k tweet impressions each day
- The Top Tweet earned 400 impressions; a drop from last month but expected due to shaking up the account.
