Day of Happiness Celebrations: Q&A

Happiness means different things to different people, what does Happiness mean to you?

I think happiness means, when you are doing an activity, be it with a group of people or by yourself, and finding that at that moment not wishing or wanting anything more.

Do you believe happiness is an emotion or more of a state of mind?

Definitely a state of mind because you can never have a happy life with a negative mind!

Do you consider being happy important to you? Why?

Yes I do. Because everything in life will then fall into place for you. You will have more energy, you’ll perform better, and you will be more content. You will be able to live life to the fullest and experience the best life has to offer.

What do you consider a fundamental barrier to Happiness in your life?

Working in a job you don’t like just for the money. If you do this for years, it will definitely take a toll on you and if the job requires long hours, you will miss out on a lot of beautiful experiences. Especially with family.

How important is wealth and money to your own happiness?

I would say it constitute a small portion, maybe no more than 20%. There are many things money can’t buy and happiness is among them.

How important is health and wellness to happiness?

If I could rank it, it’s definitely in the top 3, with family and relationships rounding out the list. If you are not healthy and well, mentally or physically, I am sure it will affect your happiness. For anyone who has a lot of wealth but fell sick in the end, I am sure most of them would be wishing they didn’t worked as hard and took the time to look after themselves.

What has been the happiest moment in your life?

I don’t really have one but I find that there are similar activities where I’m always very happy. This always occurs when I am with my friends or family. The activity is not important to happiness but the company is key.

Do you have any specific goals or resolutions for 2017?  If so, would your share your top two that directly relate to your own Pursuit of Happiness?

I have one that relates and it’s a simple one. It is just to spend more time with my family and friends. Taking the initiative to catch up and connect, so far it has been going great!

Do you consider giving to others or charity work an important part of your own Pursuit and why?

I did considered it to be a part of my pursuit, but only in the future when I’m hopefully able to give on a larger scale. However recently I took up volunteering at an animal shelter and I must say the joys and experiences are very enriching. Now I would definitely recommend everyone to start giving back and helping out, even it if just at your own community.

What 2 things have you learned in your own pursuit that you would like to share with others?

Be grateful, so you would always count your blessings and appreciate what you have in life.

Spend time with the people who matter. Sometimes you spend so much time on your career in order to give them a good life but the invaluable thing you can present them with is just your presence.

If you could recommend only three websites/books/articles to anyone reading this, what would they be, and why?

This is a good question.

My 1st would be this YouTube video, something a friend introduced to me recently.

Just to let you know that no matter how hard or difficult things might be for you currently, but change is possible. There is hope, just take it one step at a time, using 5 seconds.

My 2nd would be Oprah Winfrey’s book, What I Know For Sure. A very simple book, but it talks about gratitude and how you should live your life. I stumbled across this book one day and it just gave me a very lasting impression.

My 3rd advice would be to check out any investing or saving blogs/books! Early retirement is definitely possible but the key is to start early and build the right habits. Money is not the pinnacle of happiness, but having enough so that you don’t have to work in a job that you don’t like, would be awesome and it is definitely achievable.

What is your blog/website address and theme (if you want to share) for 2017?
