Blog Numbers sharing post – Round EIGHT!

 

August has come and gone and now is the time to share with you some numbers.  I’ve been thinking for awhile now about reducing the number of ads and affiliate links on the site… what do you think about that?  Is it a good idea?

OKAY, SO HERE ARE THE GOOGLE ANALYTIC NUMBERS FOR AUGUST 2017.

Sessions : 272 | | This is a 10% decrease from July | Decreased X

Total number of Sessions within the date range. A session is the period time a user is actively engaged with your website, app, etc. All usage data (Screen Views, Events, Ecommerce, etc.) is associated with a session.

Users : 261 | | A 0.7% decrease from July | Decreased X

Users that have had at least one session within the selected date range. Includes both new and returning users.

Pageviews : 390 | | This is a 3% decrease… a slight dip but things are on the mend for sure! | Decreased X

Pageviews is the total number of pages viewed. Repeated views of a single page are counted.

 

Pages / Session : 1.43 |  | 7% more | Increased

Pages/Session (Average Page Depth) is the average number of pages viewed during a session. Repeated views of a single page are counted.

 

Bounce Rate : 80% | | 1% decrease – this is slowly going back down; I like it!  | Decreased

Bounce Rate is the percentage of single-page visits (i.e. visits in which the person left your site from the entrance page without interacting with the page).

 

% New Sessions: 92% | |  11% more | Increased

An estimate of the percentage of first time visits.

 

THE HIGHLIGHTS

Traffic Spikes:

A slight increase in August due to increased social activity driving additional visitors to the site.  This is about the time that I started to realize I had spread myself entirely too thin and needed to make some changes and readjust priorities.

The Details

Useful Tools:

  • SNAP (Social Networks Auto Poster): This plugin has been very helpful for sending out new posts automatically to not only Twitter. We configured the tweet to include a shortened URL from Rebrandly using the domain we purchased from GoDaddy and learned how to use UTM parameters to track website visits from these tweets.
  • Disclaimer* Lest you think the Twitter account is mainly automated, each morning and evening we are active on Twitter and have been able to connect with some wonderful people this way.

Plans moving forward:

  • I’m thinking about creating some additional videos to help with engagement.  Has anyone else tried this with any success?

Okay, so this is the final August 2017 Twitter Summary.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • We averaged just under 63 Profile visits and over 2.8k tweet impressions each day
  • The Top Tweet earned 1.3k Impressions

Conclusions

    1. It’s taken me awhile to figure out the basics of Google Analytics. I’m sure that I am missing out on a number of features. It’s a very powerful tool!
